California Supreme Court approves state’s plan to develop its own bar exam

BLOOMBERG LAW — California Supreme Court justices outlined a vision for the future of the state’s bar exam on Thursday that includes the possibility of allowing applicants to retake only parts of the test they failed, without having to sit again for an entire exam.

Law deans in California express concern to California Supreme Court over new bar exam plans

ABA JOURNAL — Fifteen deans from ABA-accredited law schools have signed a letter to the California Supreme Court stating that they have “grave concerns” about Kaplan Exam Services’ ability to develop a multiple-choice bar exam “in a responsible manner” in time for the February 2025 administration of the newfangled exam.

California Supreme Court blocks California State Bar plan to implement new bar exam

West Virginia and North Dakota to adopt NextGen Bar Exam in July 2027

North Dakota sees higher pass rates for July Bar Exam over the previous year

LEGAL NEWSLINE — The State Board of Law Examiners has announced the results of the July 2024 bar examination. Of the 68 applicants who sat for the bar examination in Bismarck, North Dakota, 47 applicants achieved a passing score.
