The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) is honoring UCLA Law and Columbia Law professor Kimberlé W. Crenshaw with the 2021 AALS Triennial Award for Lifetime Service to Legal Education and to the Legal Profession.

The Journal of Legal Education recently released two issues. Issue 69-1 includes a collection of articles addressing gender inequality and the legal academy and Issue 69-2 includes a collection of articles reflecting on the Law School Survey of Student Engagement (LSSSE).
The AALS website was recently revised with a new look and feel. The site provides users with easier navigation and contains links to AALS events, services, and information, as well as a collection of legal education news and blogs.
“The prohibitions on using or teaching Critical Race Theory are an affront to the values of the Association of American Law Schools and a threat to excellence in legal education and scholarship. The AALS denounces attacks that distort or mischaracterize Critical Race Theory. And finally, the AALS condemns those who have made targeted personal attacks on individual scholars who are our colleagues and friends.”

In June, AALS welcomed more than 130 new law school faculty to a virtual version of the specialized AALS Workshop for New Law School Teachers, which supports faculty in their transition into full-time teaching as they learn to balance and embrace the competing demands of teaching, scholarship, and institutional service required in an academic career.
Since 2002, the AALS Section on Clinical Legal education has hosted the Bellow Scholars program to support the pioneering work of clinical law professors. AALS News takes a look at the history of the program and current projects.
