If you would like to organize a session at the 2023 meeting without being associated with an AALS Section, consider submitting a proposal for a Hot Topic session. These programs, focusing on topics that emerged too late in the year to be included in other types of programs, require no set format. Most Hot Topic sessions are structured as a traditional panel with 4-5 presenters followed by a question-and-answer period. We encourage you to be innovative and consider formats that are more interactive than the panel model.
The 2023 Annual Meeting’s theme, selected by AALS President Erwin Chemerinsky, is “How Law Schools Can Make a Difference.” The Program Committee encourages organizers to consider the theme in framing their proposals, though it is not a requirement for submission or acceptance.
Please note we plan to host the 2023 conference in-person in San Diego, California. Hot Topic session proposals should be submitted by October 17, 2022.
