Faculty participation is at the heart of the AALS Annual Meeting. If you would like to organize a session at the 2022 meeting without being associated with an AALS Section, consider submitting a proposal for a Hot Topic session. These programs, focusing on topics that emerged too late in the year to be included in other types of programs, require no set format. Most are structured as a traditional panel with 4-5 presenters followed by a question-and-answer period; we encourage you to be innovative and consider formats that are more interactive than the panel model.

The 2022 Annual Meeting’s theme, selected by AALS Vincent D. Rougeau, is “Freedom, Equality, and the Common Good.” The Program Committee encourages organizers to consider the theme in framing their proposals, though it is not a requirement for submission or acceptance.
